Many and varied are the entries in this year’s Quilt Event and most of these can be viewed along Wallace Street (main street) on Saturday 24th and in many venues around town all weekend. This year we will be awarding a Grand Champion from all quilts displayed. This will be announced on Saturday Evening 6pm at the National Theatre Wallace Street.

The weekend commences on Friday evening with the official opening in the National Theatre at 6pm. This year our special guest is Fiona Hammond, a quilter of renown. Everyone is welcome and the cost is only $10 per person. Sponsors have been invited as our guests as they have over the years been particularly generous. Writing about generous the Braidwood Community Bank has become a major ongoing sponsor and supporter of the Braidwood Quilt Event hence you will find the bank named in our title.
Another generous couple are Adrienne and Ian Harkness, they supplied us with a great prize from which to fundraise. Ian also has assisted us both with muscle and the use of his truck for which we are very grateful.
This year we appointed our first Patron, June Weatherstone. June has been the force behind the Quilt Event since its inception and it was only fitting that the appointment be made. Without her ongoing encouragement the Quilt Event would not have grown to be the internationally known event that it has become.
We also this year appointed another Life member in Jill McLeod another lady who has put her all into the success of the Quilt Event.
Another new concept is the hiring of the Braidwood Scout Hall for extra workshops and a chance to display in a smaller venue. Call in and have a look at the possibilities.
Please enjoy our town, exhibitions and we welcome both residents of Braidwood and surrounds and visitors.
