It all started when sixteen years ago the Parsons family of three arrived in Braidwood in a motor home coach after living on the road in Australia for eighteen months and then six months travelling around the UK and a month in France.
Daniel’s father David said “We decided to retire in Braidwood as it seemed a nice country town, not too far from major centres, but for Daniel our 18 year old son what should he do? He had a keen interest in cars and collector cards of cars so the decision was made to rent a small shop in town to display his small collection of cars and memorabilia.”
Daniel knew how popular this area of collecting was in England.
Business was slow to start with but with consistency and sheer hard work and dedication often 7 days week, the business began to grow. In fact it grew so well he had to find larger premises and moved from a small shop on Wallace Street to the village terrace on Lacelles Street.
David recalls “many people in town said he wouldn't last twelve months, but he is now in his 15 year and is travelling well. The stock now also includes radio control and plastic kits for those who like the challenge of a build of a model.
Daniel sends model cars around the country and overseas with his website www.carmodel.com.au and this year he was appointed sole importer of HPI model cars which has been very successful.
If you are looking for a Christmas present for dad granddad or even mum or any of the family to bring back memories of cars, tractors or even Caterpillar dozers of days past, pop in and have a look. Even if you don't want to buy just drop in and have a look you will be amazed at the quality and range of models displayed. If there is something you are after, Daniel will try and get it for you.
When the checkered flags are flying then the shop is open, which will be 7 days a week until Christmas.
