Townies take a swing at Mongarlowe

Updated February 5 2013 - 1:58pm, first published 1:57pm

The Braidwood Townies took on the Mongarlowe girls at the Mongarlowe Cricket Club on Sunday afternoon. While the pitch was a little overgrown about 20 players turned up for the not so regular, every couple of months women’s softball game. Ref Jenny Stahl had been studying up on the rule book and wasn’t taking any interference, tackling or back chat without penalty. US import Kim lifted the tone of the match and was a match for the ‘take no prisoners’ pitch of Jo Parsons. Slugger Mel Heycocks had a good run around the bases to see the Townies win 36 to 24 after several hours play.
