To all appearances, a fox looks like a dog but no, your fox is not a dog but a member of the cat family. A fox’s young is called a kitten not a pup. Have you noticed while out in the bush - a rank smell like a wet dog -well that is the scent the vixen (female fox) leaves for her mate. Also if you look at a fox’s droppings you will notice their diet is similar to that of a wild cat. You will find rabbit bones, remains of small birds and insects. With a dingo you find wallaby and  roo remains. A dingo is a member of the canine family but our fox is a member of the feline family so please remember a fox has kittens and a dingo has pups. Fox = Feline, Dingo = Dog.
