Local identity and former Araluen farmer Jamie Raynolds has taken over the lease of the Royal Mail Hotel. Jamie is looking forward to the opportunity of giving Braidwood and district people the best hospitality he and the staff can deliver.
There will be changes to the business – hopefully for the better but the changes will happen gradually to see if they work for the public.
Jamie and the staff thank the previous owners Kevin and Dianne and Jarrod and Michelle Bell for making the changeover as smooth as possible.
Originally the Royal Hotel was built in 1890 by James O'Brien. It was once called the Royal Hotel and was a staging point for coaches during the boom time of the gold rushes.
The hotel was made famous when Mick Jagger played Ned Kelly in the film of the same name, the pub was used for several scenes. The hotel has 18 accommodation rooms upstairs, bistro and beer garden.
'Australia's Most Haunted' visited the hotel in 2013 to seek out the reputedly friendly ghosts.
