According to ABC Gardening Australia , if you are going to mix daffodils with other flowers in one vase they need to be conditioned, as their cut stems emit slime that can clog the stems of other flowers and decrease their vase life.

To condition daffodils recut the stems, removing about 2.5cm of each stem, then place them without other types of flowers in a clean container of cold water with the recommended amount of floral preservative in it. Leave them to stand in this mix for at least six hours before arranging them with the other flowers. Do not recut the stem or it will emit the slime again. Change the water daily.
