For the last few years the date of the commencement of the Battle of Long Tan in South Vietnam has been recognised as Vietnam Memorial Day. With the 50th Anniversary of the battle, on Thursday 18 August the Braidwood RSL sub-branch held a short, memorial service in the Memorial Garden on the corner of Ryrie Park at 11am to remember all those who served and fell in South Vietnam, or who have subsequently passed away. Local Vietnam veterans attended, along with representatives of Braidwood Central School.
The students laid a wreath at the memorial.
The service was followed by a lunch at the Servicemen’s Club.
