
Braidwood Central School has been among the schools in the Monaro named to receive a share of the $219 million in funds made available under the Gonski agreement. Schools across Monaro with receive $1,709,903 in additional needs-based funding, with Braidwood Central School due to receive $447,906, an increase of $71,101. Braidwood Central will also be among the Monaro schools to receive additional funding under the Connecting Country Schools program, which will go towards upgrading schools wifi access and internet capacity.
Many community groups in the Braidwood area have also been among those in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region to receive local government funding under the stronger communities fund. These groups include: the District Historical Society, the Urban Landcare Group, Majors Creek Festival Inc, the recreation ground, the Men’s Shed, the National Theatre, Braidwood Regional Art Group, the Rodeo Association, the Show Society, the Showground Reserve, the Polocrosse Club and the Campdraft Club.
The QPRC Special Heritage Fund has also been expanded, allowing owners of heritage items in the former Palerang area to apply for funding. Anyone wishing to apply for these funds should visit the council website for more information.
These funding opportunities, both state and federal, are a great opportunity to improve facilities available to local students and provide community groups in Braidwood with the scope to expand their reach and strengthen their programs.
