In 2011, just 388 people in the Queanbeyan-Palerang area caught public transport to work, compared to 23,176 who drove in private vehicles.
Braidwood had a much higher percentage of those who walked to work than either Queanbeyan or Bungendore.
Transport throughout the QPRC region is addressed in a new draft Integrated Transport Strategy released by council.
The strategy has been prepared to guide planning direction for transport in the region.
Traffic congestion and safety on the main streets of Braidwood and Bungendore is listed an issue of key concern in the strategy.
A lack of public transport services to Braidwood and Bungendore is also listed as being of concern.
Council has invited residents to have their say on the draft strategy at a series of drop in sessions.
More information about the transport strategy can be found here.
