Four-year-old Banjo is no exception to the rule.

A gentleman, with lots of potential, Kira Booth from the Wingecarribe Animal Shelter said he is responding well to training.

“He is responding well to his training at the shelter, and most of all, he is enjoying it,” Ms Booth said.

Being a working dog, Banjo would require daily exercise to keep him fit,healthy and stimulated as well as good fencing to keep him safe.

He has a strong recall and walks well on a lead..

A gentle soul, Jed loves nothing more than to lay down and play with a squeaky toy (preferably a rubber pig one).

Jed is three-years-old and would be at home with another gentle pooch.

He recently spent time at the Tulip Time Parade as a representative of the Wingecarribe Animal Shelter where he enjoyed meeting dogs and people.

A long term resident of the Wingecarribee Animal Shelter, Otter the greyhound is raring to make the move into a more permanent home. 

Gentle and easy going, he walks well on a lead and would make a good companion for someone looking for a gentle walking buddy.

With a gorgeous sandy and white coat, Max is a smiley pup.

A staffordshire terrier/malamute cross, he is active and loves to go on a walk.

He is clever and already knows how to sit and shakes.

Still essentially a pup, Bella is a 12-month-old whippet cross cattle-dog.

Always friendly and sporting a big smile, Bella gets along with other dogs.

While she can get a little excited upon first meeting someone, she is currently doing puppy deportment and working on her manners.

“Once she gets over the initial excitement, she settles down easily and is very gentle,” Kira Booth of the Wingecarribe Animal Shelter said.

“Our trainer has commented on Bella’s temperament and believes she has a lot of potential.”

Affectionate and smart, these are the two characteristics most often associated with the pointer and border collie respectively.

A cross of the two breeds, 1-year-old Lucy is active and loves to play ball and go for long walks.

A perfect partner in crime, she would be most suited as an adventure buddy and would thrive in an active home.

Toilet trained, Lucy would be more at home living inside with her family.

Despite getting along well with other dogs, she may get a little anxious around dogs who are a little boisterous.

Kira Booth, of the Wingecarribe Centre, said the fact Sam loves his food is an advantage for training.

“Adopting a Greyhound can bring many joys into a household, and Greyhounds are becoming a very popular breed in NSW due to their gentle nature and low energy,” Ms Booth said.

“Two staff members from the Wingecarribee Animal Shelter have both rescued Greyhounds, and they highly recommend the community to come and meet our Greyhounds and ask questions about Greyhounds and how awesome they are.”

Just a baby, Piri is a border collie cross staffordshire terrier.

Happy and bubbly, Piri has shown a lot of potential in training sessions and is very bright.

As a young dog her new family will need to continue her training and provide daily exercise. 

A sociable dog, Piri gets along well with other dogs and may be suitable to be re-homed with another dog with similar energy levels.

Earlier in the week we met Peggy. 

Now it is time to shine the spotlight on Peggy’s mum Ash.

Festively plump, Ash is a playful pump, despite being the grand old age of four-and-a-half years old.

Desexed, Ash is kelpie/boxer cross.

They say black is classic, and Ash shows it off with a splash of white on her chest and her paws.

Ash loves people and cats.

At just a year-and-a-half old, Lexi the blood hound border collie cross is shy pooch with a lovable and loyal nature.

Described as sweet and willing to please, she is friendly with other dogs and loves to make new furry friends.

With a striking black coat and white chest patch, Lexi is currently living at the Yass Valley Dog’s Home.
