Nia draws on the energy of dance, martial arts and yoga, to create an experience that caters to the needs and capacities of everyone present. Nia teaches us to focus on sensation – the language of the body – to find our own dance, our own joy in movement. And best of all, it’s fun.
Now taught in 45 countries, and Nia coming soon to Braidwood, for everybody to enjoy.
Nia is the antithesis of the “no pain, no gain” approach to exercise. Instead it follows the pleasure principle: if it feels good, do it.
Debbie and Carlos Rosas, creators of the Nia Technique, believe that for an exercise regimen to feel good enough to last a lifetime, it must satisfy the heart and soul.
“In 1983, we took off our shoes and completely changed the look and feel of fitness. We discovered that love is the way to create a healthy body,” they say. “We began consciously to feel sensation and choose pleasure over pain. Personal expression, adaptability, and body awareness became important tools for achieving fitness, healing and transformation.”
For me, it was love at first move, so I am thrilled to be able to share the magic of Nia with the Braidwood community. Come and give it a try. Leave your shoes and concerns at the door, and step in to Nia.
- Nia will run at the Club from February 6, on Tuesdays at 12:30pm and Thursdays at 10:30am, $15 for the first two classes, contact Freya Job on 0418 481 967
