And after 18 months working at the Braidwood Vet Surgery, Ms Benny is qualified to judge.
She especially likes the balances within the practice between the large animals that come with a farming area, and small animals that come with the town.
“It’s been exactly what I’ve wanted, because I’ve got a busy calving season… then the next second you come and you're doing bloods on a dog, so it’s a very good mix,” she said.
“It’s that right balance, it’s not just smallies in the city, and it’s not just full on dairy.”
After having worked in Braidwood since August 2016, she’s found her feet and adjusted to life in a small country town.
Originally from the Illawarra, Ms Benny studied at Charles Stuart University in Wagga Wagga.
Growing up on a small property with lots of animals, she had always been interested in studying veterinary science.
Working at a dairy farm during high school, and a voluntary placement at a vet clinic as a teenager, confirmed this for her.
In balancing small animals with big, Braidwood has perfectly suited Ms Benny’s inclinations.
She is also finding she likes the town itself.
With just one hour to Canberra or the coast, or two and a half to family Illawarra, the town is nicely central.
Snowfields close by are another bonus, allowing her to practise snowboarding.
“I do have a lot of friends that laugh at me... because they tell me I’m out in the middle of nowhere, in the sticks,” she said.
“But actually, it’s been nice, because… you do see people regularly.”
The town has also been the perfect start for a newly qualified vet.
“All the way along this is definitely where I wanted to take the first step out,” Ms Benny said.
“For a first year I was very lucky… I had a great combination of animals and clients, very supportive staff.”
