Of course, quad bikes have been getting lots of publicity. They are now one of the most common causes of farm deaths and injury. In spite of all the evidence, there is little regulation of their safety requirements, although Victoria is now looking at minimum age groups.
Hearing loss occurs from a variety of sources: chainsaws, generators, power tools and guns. The use of ear protection is minimal and the quality of the devices variable.

The other equipment accidents are almost every day in Braidwood – the chainsaws, power tools, ladders, heavy lifting, sharp surfaces etc – often happening without appropriate training, plans or safety devices.
While many properties do not require a registration of their safety plans and equipment, most do employ others and need therefore to supply a safe workplace, with the required training, information, safety equipment, first aid equipment and skills.
Mick Peterson is interested in setting up a local discussion group and can be contacted on 6161 1119.
