The 2018-19 club officers were installed by Past District Govenor Geoff Hobart at the club’s 42nd changeover, held at the Crookwell Service Club on Sunday, June 17.
Crookwell Lions were joined by representatives from surrounding clubs including Gunning, Goulburn, Braidwood, Marulan and Bundanoon as well as guests Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor, Upper Lachlan Mayor Brian McCormack with his wife Marita and myself representing the Crookwell Gazette.
Before the installation of officers, president Jennifer Hall presented two members with significant Lions awards. Firstly Norm Fountain with the Harry Hession Prize of Honour for his tireless work for Lions in the Crookwell community and with the Lions NSW-ACT Save Sight Foundation.
The second was the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship, for dedicated humanitarian services to Judith Fountain. Judith is the club’s secretary and a tireless worker for Lions and the community, always giving 100 per cent effort in everything she turns her hand too.
President Jennifer also presented a number of her own certificates of appreciation to club members as will as one the club’s newest member Kelly Munn, for her work with club members before she became a member. Kelly’s induction into the Lions family was conducted by Lions Cabinet Secretary John Flarrety at Sunday’s luncheon.
In her presidents report Jennifer Hall highlighted some of the work the club has done throughout the year. The small group of members staffed the gates at the Crookwell Show, conducted the Lions Christmas Markets and ran their wheelbarrow raffle, catered for the team sorting, manned the junior league kiosk, conducted wood raffles and numerous other fundraising activities.
Office bearers the comming year are: President Jennifer Hall, secretary Judith Fountain, treasurer and two year director Colin Simpson, first vice president Norm Fountain second vice president John Gray, third vice president Brent Hall, also tail twister and membership chairman Doug Cady.
