Held in the room where Mick Jagger stayed during his stay in 1971, filming Ned Kelly, the function was enlivened by auctions led by Anthony Atkinson and a Calcutta auction of the horses before the running of the race.
The final figure raised by the event is not known, but Deputy Chair and founder of the BEF, Rob Martin, said that this is the seventh year they have run the Melbourne Cup function as a fundraiser and it is one of their key fundraisers of the year.
