If you are travelling with your pet consider the locations you are visiting, as you may need your pet on paralysis tick and heartworm prevention.
Both preventatives are easy to commence, although for your pet to start on heartworm prevention, he or she will need to undergo a quick blood test to ensure that they are not already infected.
If you are leaving your pets at home, Braidwood has many boarding kennels, catteries and even pet minders who can even look after your pets in your own home. These services book quickly, so contact them now to avoid disappointment.
Before accessing these services both cats and dogs must be fully vaccinated. Different facilities have different entry requirements, and some vaccines take four weeks to achieve full immunity, so check the requirements several weeks prior to your booked dates.
Generally, as a minimum, dogs require a C5 (vaccination against five preventable canine diseases) and cats require a F3 (vaccination against three preventable feline diseases).
Regardless of where you leave your pets, it is a good idea to ensure you leave your contact details, and discuss possible worst case scenarios, so your pet’s carer is clear on the level of treatment, expense and care to be provided to your pet in your absence.
