Leah Moore, a renowned geologist from Canberra University and ANU, will be leading a geology tour of Braidwood this Saturday in conjunction with Upper Shoalhaven Landcare and Local Land Services.
This will be an exciting opportunity to explore the diversity of local geologies, produced by the variety of parent materials, climates and weathering regimes in the vicinity of Braidwood.
Leah is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable presenter, and her teaching style makes the science of geology accessible to anyone with an interest, regardless of previous knowledge or scientific background.
You will go home not only understanding more about rocks, but things like geological periods, how local hills and valleys were shaped, and how water moves above and below the ground. The tour will pose questions about what the science means for your property, and the areas where you live, work and play.
The tour will visit some key local geologies and you will also learn how to begin to access geological information at other locations, both through observations and on-line mapping tools.
Departing from Braidwood at 9:30am, join the bus tour for the day for only $10 (morning tea and lunch included). For bus seats RSVP is essential to Bec Klomp, Upper Shoalhaven Landcare on 4842 2594 or upper.shoalhaven@gmail.com.
