The cool, however, was a relief after the stretch of hot weather and it was sensibly reasoned that the upside of the overcast and damp day was that sunburn and heatstroke were not among the outcomes.
The children eagerly took to the water to compete in a variety of competitive and novelty events. St Bede’s sports coordinator, Katie Tooth, reported that the day ran smoothly thanks to the army of volunteer parents and friends who assisted with timekeeping, recording, marshalling and setting and packing up.
Ms Tooth said, “The students participated in the best of spirits and it was fantastic to see them encouraging and cheering each other on. Following the competitive events, the day finished off with the teachers finally getting a win in the students versus parents versus teachers relay!”
