The wheelchair, for the use of any scout in the region who requires assistance with mobility, was purchased after the local Scout group raised funds within the Braidwood community.
The Braidwood Lodge of Truth, Braidwood Community Bank, Lions, Apex and 1st Braidwood Scouts all donated funds, which was then matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis by Masonicare.
The wheelchair, one of two now owned by the Special Needs Unit, will be available to all scouting units in the region as and when the need arises.
Phil Crutchley, the leader of the Special Needs Unit, said, “We’re an inclusive organisation. whether a scout has a disability, or whether they’ve just broken a leg or have an injury, they can access this equipment and still participate in all facets of scouting.”
