Talking with other retailers in town, it is more apparent that holiday visitors are coming to Braidwood and not just through Braidwood. Congratulations to all who have worked so hard to turn Braidwood into a destination over the last few years.

The success stories about small country towns that survive, grow and improve are based on those that have business owners that work together and with the community, to make their towns destinations in their own right. It has been seen throughout NSW and the rest of Australia that towns with a strong community and a strong business group do well socially, commercially and culturally. Braidwood is well on this path.
The local community and visitors are fortunate in being able to shop for high quality and locally produced food, art, fashion, homewares and more that have a distinctive Braidwood theme to them.
We also have the advantage of volunteer and commercial operators running fantastic events throughout the year. Whether it is the Braidwood Races, Marina Prior at MONA, the Braidwood Show or the Braidwood Festival, our opportunity is for all to work together and support each other in promoting these experiences that make Braidwood a destination through autumn, into winter and year round.
We also have the opportunity to continue to encourage QPRC to keep the town infrastructure up to the level required of a significant, heritage-listed town. I don’t think anyone wants the “Wallace Street rapids” to be an ongoing feature of the town.
