Corica admitted this week's international break is coming at a good time for his A-League club, after a heavy recent schedule of domestic and Champions League games.

Second-placed Sydney are just one point ahead of Melbourne Victory and dropped nine behind pacesetters Perth following Sunday's 2-0 home loss to Melbourne City.

It was the first time in 22 A-League matches this season Sydney haven't scored, but their third straight goalless game after shooting blanks in their first two Champions League fixtures.

Sydney, and especially English striker Adam Le Fondre, were prolific in the first half of the season but goals have been harder to come by in the second half.

The Sky Blues scored 23 times in their first 11 A-League gams, with Le Fondre netting 10 of those.

But they have managed 13 in their last 11, with Le Fondre contributing four.

Corica conceded changes to the forward line may may have had some impact but he's confident recent addition Ghoochannejhad's output will improve.

The Iranian international has scored just one goal in his first seven A-League and Champions League appearances.

He started six of those games but was substituted in all of them.

"We brought Reza in and he's a quality player and we wanted him to score more goals and he will score at the right times," Corica said.

"They've got a good combination going, him and Adam up front."

The Sky Blues' creative stocks are set to be boosted after the break, with marquee Siem de Jong and Daniel De Silva both likely to be available for their next match against Brisbane.

Both men have been dogged by injury issues through the season.

De Jong has played just 11 league games, while De Silva has started only four matches and made 11 appearances off the bench.

Corica is hoping the situation regarding midfielder Josh Brillante's mooted move to South Korean club Pohang Steelers is resolved over the next couple of days.

Brillante was left out of Sydney's last two games because Corica felt the player wasn't in the right frame of mind.
