In the Visitors Information Centre this afternoon, Chris Watkins said that the traffic started building up around mid-morning and had been consistently heavy since then. Another local said that it was as bad yesterday, with Wallace Street at times looking like a car park.
It's not all bad, of course, with many local businesses doing brisk trade as travellers stop to escape the traffic.
