For Michael Bynon, his 30-plus years as a wine-industry professional that spanned across all aspects of the wine business, gave him the insight necessary to know how to tackle the arduous life of a vignerons.
Alongside him is wife Jill with her background as a marketing professional and years of traveling and developing a love of wine and food culture, They make for a formidable pair and have just what it takes to build a quality wine brand that is now known and loved by many.
Their combined skills and shared love of good wine, food and nature was the foundation on which Corang Estate was built.
The essence of Corang Estate is about celebrating the unique wine flavours and cool climate styles of the NSW Southern Tablelands and making wines from those varieties that suit the region and will that will produce quality wine.
We feel the Hilltops, Tumbarumba and Canberra regions of the Southern Tablelands are producing some of Australias most exciting wines. We have selected superb examples of these, working closely with production and growers to ensure top quality.
- Michael and Jill Bynon of Corang Estate
Corang Estate's vineyard reflects the stony soils and climatic conditions that match those of many of the world's great wine growing regions. Michael and Jill have planted the red grape varieties of Tempranillo and Shiraz, and expect to produce top quality fruit, with their first vintage expected in 2021.
While their own vines are growing, they decided to launch a range of regional wines made with fruit selected from some of the area's finest vineyards.
A decision that has paid off for them as they have won a number of awards with these wines, most notably the Trophy for Best Shiraz of Show at the Australian Highlands Wine Show.
