'Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Champions' can be anyone interested in helping others and stopping violence, and can refer at-risk individuals to local services if violence is present.
A community education session on current best practice guidelines for addressing a person who has experienced domestic and family violence will be held next week for anyone interested in becoming a DFV champion.
Educated trainers will explain the 'red flags', how to respond and where to refer a person who has experienced, or is at risk of violence.
By providing this training, the group believes that it may start a healthy conversation about local concerns and develop a zero tolerance stance in our community.
The session can be offered for free to our community thanks to grant funding received from the WomenNSW LDFV Committee Grants program.
This event will be presented by local counsellor, educator and speaker, Hollie Bakerboljkovac, with content based on 'Community Services Training Unit CHCDFV001: Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence', shaped specifically for local community information.
When: Thursday July 18, 5.30pm-7.30pm
Where: Braidwood Life Centre at the Recreation Ground
Free event includes supper. Please RSVP for catering services.
