He has been performing for over 20 years under the moniker of Mikelangelo, releasing 12 albums and touring nationally and internationally to great acclaim.
Born in Canberra, Simic has now settled in Majors Creek with his wife Rose, their daughter Sunny, and their dog Luna. He has just landed the new job to help local musicians and he is hosting a Meet'n'Greet for musicians at the Goulburn Club on Tuesday, September 24 from 6pm.
He hopes musicians of all ages will come along and meet him and tell him what help they need and how he can help them to keep live music thriving locally.
"I have made a living from music my whole life, so one of the reasons MusicNSW employed me is because I have such experience," he said.
"I am not here to tell people how to do it. I want to learn who is doing stuff here and how I can help them.
"A lot of the time, musicians want to get something happening but they may be a bit scared about how to go about it, or maybe they just need some advice. Regional music officers are the middle people who can talk to musicians and venues."
He said MusicNSW can help to support and bolster local musicians and the local music industry.
"So if you interested in music, or own a live music venue, or you manage bands or promote them, come along, I want to meet you," he said.
"I want to hear about music in your area, what you're working on, things you might need help with, what's working (or not working), and also provide an opportunity for you to meet other passionate music people in your music community."
So musos - get on down to the Goulburn Club on Tuesday, September 24 from 6pm. If you cant make it, but want to contact him, email: michael@musicnsw.com.
