Get your pencils ready, let your imagination run wild and prepare to face the limitless possibilities of the blank page. The Young Writers Festival will kick off on Friday, February 14.
Festival patron and author Jackie French, mayor Tim Overall and Lions president Frank Hansby will be present to launch the biennial initiative. Students from schools in Braidwood as well as home schoolers will also be present to join in the fun.
The festival aims to give all young people in the Braidwood community the opportunity to share their stories, poetry, essays or opinion pieces. The subject matter is only limited by your imagination.
The project encourages young writers to develop their skills and enables them to interact with established authors who will judge their entries.
The 2018 festival was a big success with more than 270 entries submitted. The winning stories were published in a book for everyone to enjoy.
