The federal government is encouraging people to link their Medicare accounts to their MyGov accounts in advance of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout, to ensure their vaccination certificates can be accessed as easily as possible.

The Australian Immunisation Register has undergone upgrades in advance of the rollout, allowing people to see their vaccination certificates through myGov or the Medicare Express Plus app.
"The Morrison government is getting on with the vaccine rollout so we're asking Australians to be vaccination-ready and link their digital services today," Government Services Minister Stuart Robert said.
"Services Australia has been putting in the work to ensure government services are simple, respectful, transparent and helpful - so we have supercharged myGov and we have state-of-the art cybersecurity in place to protect the Australian Immunisation Register.
"Linking your myGov and Medicare digital accounts is a simple step you can take right now that will help you and your family be ready for a vaccinated Australia."
It has been reported the government is considering further advances whereby a COVID-19 vaccination certificate could be easily accessed through the Medicare app on a smart phone, in a similar way to how public transport cards and bank cards are kept in "digital wallets" on smartphones.
