Riders left from the Nerriga Sports ground, following fire trails and riding through open farm land. Each rider completed a total of 20kms over 4 – 5 hours.
“We had a great turn out and a lot of positive comments about the ride route, the organisation and the local grounds” said President Nerriga District Riders Club Amanda Herringe. “Many people have asked if we will do the ride again next year, and I’m sure we will and we’re hoping to be bigger and better next year.
“To have such a successful horse event back in Nerriga has been wonderful for this community. Riders came from Illawarra, ACT, Goulburn, Nowra, Braidwood & southern Highlands area.”
After the ride about 100 people attended a dance.
“The event would not have been as great without the help from our sponsors! They made it possible. And I would like to thank them for their generous support.”
Catering for breakfast and lunch was provided by the Local Nerriga Progress and Sporting Association, and all proceeds from riders’ entry, dance, food and raffles are going directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
