NSW began its process to re-opening this week, but the biggest treat is in store this weekend when the Bunnings sausage sizzle begins its return.

While the sizzle won't come back everywhere at once, all NSW Bunnings stores should have charity BBQs back within the next few weeks.

Bunnings Chief Operating Officer Simon McDowell said it was great news.

"We're really excited to be welcoming community groups back to our stores in NSW for the return of the sausage sizzle, from this weekend," Mr McDowell said.

"We know how much our customers have missed the weekend tradition, and we're really pleased local community groups will be able to get back behind the BBQs to raise funds.

"Sausage sizzles will return progressively as our store teams book groups in and take them through the health and safety requirements in line with the NSW reopening roadmap. We expect to have most stores back up and running over the next few weeks.

"It's not the first time we have brought back the sausage sizzle, so we will use our experience to make sure it all runs smoothly for our team, customers and community volunteers.

"We look forward to bringing the community sausage sizzle back in Victoria and the ACT when guidelines allow."

In Queensland, Bunnings is stepping up to help with the vaccine roll-out.

The Queensland government is set to roll out COVID-19 vaccines at Bunnings stores in a bid to boost uptake.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said her government was finding new ways to bring protection to the state's population and vaccine clinics would begin at Bunnings retailers this weekend.

"So families can get their Bunnings sausage and a dose of vaccine," the premier told parliament on Tuesday.
