The Braidwood Soccer local competition starts back this coming Saturday (19 July) and whilst some of us have enjoyed the mid-season break, the Bullants have not been taking it easy. Braidwood under the Palerang United Football Club banner was strongly represented at the Kanga Cup - well done to all the players, coaches, managers and parents for all their hard work.

There were two under 9's team (the Reds and Whites) entered this year, and both teams played 7 games in 4 days in a very cold week without complaint. The Under 9 Whites showed a dramatic improvement in their skills and learned quickly that there is a different type of competition outside of Braidwood. The team was exhausted but had lots of fun and are eager to go back next year. Well done the Whites team to win 3 of their 7 games. The Reds found tough competition with the Sydney teams there to play serious business and although they were defeated every game except for one draw they kept going out there with a good attitude - every one of them improved over the week and they became tougher players after every game - they all enjoyed themselves and were a joy to coach.
The under 12 girls nicknamed the Palerang Pinks because of their striking pink and black uniforms had a tremendous week. If there was a prize for defending the girls would have won hands down. The first game was a 2-0 loss, but those two goals were scored in the first half and from then on the girls meant business with several draws. The 0-0 draw against a strong Northbridge team was a great result with both coaches admiring the sheer gutz and determination of the Palerang team. The one all draw against the team (Belconnen) who eventually took out the Grand Final showed how strongly our girls played.
The competition in the U13 boys was formidable attracting teams from Sydney, Canberra and Regional NSW. Well done to Angus Bunn, Izak Hilhorst, Joshua Story and Tristan Neate for the seven goals scored during the comp.
The under 15's girls also came up against strong competition from sometimes friendly and at other times fiercely determined teams. Thursdays match against the Weston Molongolo Football Club was perhaps the coldest weather wise, but warmest of the comp with the Weston team giving the player of the match award to our goalkeeper Hannah Cargill - well done Hannah!!
