I have lived in Braidwood nearly half my life. I’m aware that that does not make me a local. However my mantra has always been ‘what a tolerant, kind caring place Braidwood is.’

One of the letters published in this paper on 10 Dec 2014 indicates not everyone thinks like I do.
I have been a Member of the Braidwood Rural Australians for Refugees since its inception. I am proud to say this.
We have had refugee families living with us and have see them become proud caring Australian citizens, their children completing tertiary education and giving back to the community that gave them so much love and support.
I suggest the writer of that letter check his facts. I have a drawing in my kitchen by a so called ‘transferee’ child of 9 who ended up floating in the Indian Ocean. She and her family survived thankfully.
I think individual RAR supporters should not be denigrated publicly or any other way. After all we sing “we’ve boundless plains to share” Let’s do that.
