Facts and a good story sometimes have an uneasy relationship. For example last week’s Republican convention in the world’s most bizarre election campaign included a speech by the vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan. He was declared that he was not at all perturbed by his falsification of facts.

The platypus is not so cynical and hereby apologises for an inadvertent factual error in a recent GM where it was stated that there was a matrimonial association between Shamrock Fitzgerald and a freeman.
Shamrock was the runner up to the Bomber in the September monthly medal with the Bare Elbow third on a countback. Massie, the verbal terrorist and Les Hart each won a ball. There was no NTP.
Jackie Clark was the winner and NTP on September 1. Helen Goddard was second on a countback from Lady Shoemark. Last Saturday’s Di Freeman trophy was won by Barb Stuart who returned from her northern excursion to register a net 71. Jackie was second and won the putts. Several balls were lost but Fran McGrath compensated the loss with a page full of suspect golf anecdotes.
The burgling Bomber continued his form from the previous week with an easy win in the Peter Warne trophy. Bomber’s score was both unlikely and unbelievable with the golf link software intervening when the score was registered with a question as to its reliability. Forty nine stableford points indeed!
Murray Smith was second fourteen points adrift on a countback from the Beardless Youth and Rolls Royds. Keith Ferguson and Geoff Hassall also won a ball and the Beancounter was the NTP.
This weekend the ladies play their foursomes championships with 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The men’s foursomes is a 27 hole affair on Sunday. We need more nominations for both events. Saturday for the men is a 2BBB sponsored by Alec Henry and Phil O’Toole. There is a committee meeting this Saturday.
A contingent from Moruya will play a nine hole competition next Monday. Local players are invited to join the visitors. A modified shot gun start with players assembling at 9.00am for a 9.30 start. Fifteen dollars pays for the game and lunch.
