The Braidwood Fishing Club held its Spring family Fishing Competition at the Lakesea Caravan Park, South Durras, at the start of the NSW school holidays.
Around 65 members participated in the weekend. After a heavy downpour on Friday evening, the weather for the rest of the weekend was good - shame the same could not be said for the fishing - as only a few fish were caught for the entire weekend.
All in all it was still a good weekend with the Lakesea Caravan Park looking after everyone and providing a cooked brekkie on Sunday morning. They also organised the Shimano representative from the Compleat Angler in Batemans Bay, to give everyone a demo on all the new and greatest fishing gear.
The winners for the weekend were: Female First - Julie Harrington with a Bream & Flathead and Second -Linda Vistco, with her first weighed in fish - a Flathead. Male First - Bruce Harrington with a Flathead & a Snapper and Second - Simon Jeffery with a Salmon. Unfortunately no junior caught a weighable species on the weekend.
The Club would like to thank Ian & Maureen Faviell for sponsoring the weekend and the Lakesea Caravan Park for looking after us and donating the lucky door prize of 2 nights in a cabin. Future dates to remember - Jindabyne on 9-11 Oct. & Nelligen (family Weekend) 30 Oct.-1 Nov. Braidwood Fishing Club Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at the Braidwood Services Club, commencing at 7.30pm.
