It has been some time since the possum has reported on the activities of the Braidwood lawn bowlers because the weather has caused both it and the bowlers to enter hibernation. This drought will soon come to an end with the Barefoot Bowls Competition, sponsored the Community Bank, commencing on Friday November 11.

This event has proved a popular entertainment over the last four years where teams play from 6-8pm over four Friday nights. There is a weekly prize of $200 for the best team and a $200 prize for the best team over the four weeks. Each team may only have one regular bowler, but there is no requirement to have a regular bowler.
The Bowling Club has a room full bowls for participants to choose from to play with. After the games are completed a barbecue is supplied to all players. Entries can be made at the Community Bank or the Services Club office as late as 5.30pm on the Friday night of play.
The possum suggests that if you, your family, your work mates or your friends want a good night’s fun you should get your entries in soon.
Sunday started fine but by lunch time it was quite chilly. Nevertheless, ten players, ranging in age from 12 to 86, braved the harsh conditions and had a great afternoon bowling.
The possum wishes to remind Braidwood residents that bowls is for all ages and that new bowlers are always welcome.
