Leanne Wakeling is one of many newcomers to cropping garlic around Braidwood.
Many will know Leanne from the local IGA. Leanne grows her garlic at Wyanbene, and is in her second year, having previously grown potatoes. With her partner Paul Elliott, and children Crystal and Penny, Leanne is excited about the possibilities of the crop and is looking towards growing more and more each year.
Leanne said, "I'm really excited about the Garlic Fiesta and the chance to showcase my garlic to the public."
The Braidwood Garlic Fiesta is an initiative of Braidwood and Villages Tourism Association. Food is one of the major draw cards for tourism, which is why BAVT decided to add this event to the Braidwood Festival program, when thousands of visitors will be around.
Some cafes and restaurants in Braidwood are joining in with garlic hero dishes with garlic donated by several local growers.
Wyanbene Garlic will be available at the Garlic Fiesta stall, part of the Festival of Braidwood on Saturday November 26.
