Monaro MP John Barilaro and Queanbeyan-Palerang administrator Tim Overall visited Braidwood to congratulate community groups who will receive funding under the Stronger Communities Fund.
They visited Flood Creek, the Recreation Grounds and the Men’s Shed to hear about plans to use the funding and meet members.
Braidwood Urban Landcare has secured $26,000 for the Flood Creek Community Recreation Project. The group plans to create a public recreation space along the path beside the community gardens with the addition of ornamental trees, bench seats and outdoor exercise equipment, with eventual plans to pave the path. They hope to create a safe space where children can ride their bikes off the road.
Mr Barilaro and Mr Overall also heard about plans for the Men’s Shed, who will use the $25,000 in funding allocated to them to expand the shed’s storage areas.
Braidwood Recreation Grounds will received $9330 in funding for equipment and for canteen refurbishments.
