The ‘Deck the Halls’ Community Christmas Party will be held at Ryrie Park on December 10, starting at 6pm and running through to 10pm.
The park’s rotunda will be turned into a ‘Santa’s Grotto’ for the evening with the help of The Outsiders group, with Santa will be making a sneaky appearance at around 6.30, staying until 8.30, thanks to Braidwood APEX and the Rural Fire Service who’ve been in touch with the elves.
Performances will include singing, carols and instrumental items from students at Braidwood Central School, which are bound to put a smile on everyone’s face. Alongside this will be some extraordinarily cute dance performances from the Braidwood Dance Studio students. The very talented local all-girl trio, ‘Rubydear’ will also be performing on stage towards the latter part of the evening.
Between the two main park areas on Wilson Street will be entirely closed to traffic from 2pm on the Saturday and by 6pm will have transformed into a ’mini food alley’. The majority of food vendors are either local businesses, local mobile food stall operators, local vineyards with wine tastings on offer and a good old sausage sizzle from the Lions Club.
APEX will be there with ‘bells on’ from 6pm with their annual fundraiser raffles, chocolate wheel and jumping castle. Braidwood Community Bank will be assisting with the marquees for food vendors and there’s a rumour circulating about a special appearance from a very large ‘piggy’.
Other activities for the kids include archery, a rock climbing wall and bungy trampolines along with Nomad the Magician roving the crowd performing a variety of mind bending magic tricks.
The MC for the evening is Aria Award winner, Hau Latukefu from Triple J’s Hip Hop show and the DJing duties will be looked after by Chris Colonna.
The amazingly agile Drumassault and Fireflies will be performing their mind blowing drumming and fire acrobatic display just after dusk.
Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council has invited the community to bring a picnic blanket and come along on December 10 to enjoy what will be a great celebration of the Braidwood community and the Christmas season.
