The Spring Night Tennis Competition culminated in an exciting final on December 5. The top teams, captained by Club President Michael Toirkens and Reg O’Connell played each other in an exciting finish to the season.
Toirkens’ team proved too strong on the night for O’Connell’s team and were crowned winners of the competition, undefeated throughout the season.
Michael was quick to congratulate his team, which included newcomer John Potter and regulars Rodney Royds, Col Temple, Greg Clarke and Riley Hewitt. Michael also thanked the younger players in the competition Riley, Sam and Ben for their enthusiasm. It was another successful competition for the Braidwood Tennis Club.
Families filled the courts for the Tennis Club’s Christmas Party on Sunday afternoon. The highlight of the event was Rodney Royds’ induction to Life Membership of the Club. The honour was well deserved, Rodney has been on the committee for over 15 years and was Club President for nine years.
Planning is underway for funding to re-surface the two remaining courts, replace the fencing and beautify the club house surrounds. The Tennis Club wishes to thank the contribution of funds from Braidwood Community Bank.
