The club has entered a U18 and Open’s team in the Illawarra Rugby League competition on the back of the success from the November 9s tournament, which featured a number of players from the Bay.
It’s been a long time coming for opens player, Cherie Potts, who has been playing league on and off for the past 16 years. The 33-year-old said she came to accept early on that she would have to travel to progress in the game.
“I played a lot in Canberra because I wanted to go to take it further,” she said.
“We have had one-off female contact games around here before and they have been very popular, so I’m glad young girls are set to get more opportunity to play regularly.”
Anyone interested in playing is encouraged to contact the club via the Batemans Bay Tigers Womens Rugby League Facebook page.
