Building Better Regions Fund
Council will be applying for funding under the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) for two major projects. The first project is to significantly improve the infrastructure of the Braidwood and Captains Flat pools.
Council has already earmarked $400,000 for infrastructure repairs at these pools under the Stronger Communities Fund. It will be applying for a further $400,000 under the BBRF in order to be able to fully address the issues at both pools.
As the BBRF is a competitive fund, Council needs community support for the project. The Q-One Aquatics team has started an online petition which residents are encouraged to complete. The details can be found on the Q-One Aquatics Facebook page.
Council will also submit a proposal to BBRF for a project to improve the Braidwood Town Centre. These works will be informed by the Braidwood Heritage Plan and be delivered in consultation with the Heritage Council of NSW.
The proposed works include restoring streetscape through cobblestone kerb and gutter, modernising the CBD drainage, providing off-street parking and resurfacing the main street.
Sports Facilities Strategic Plan
The Sports Facilities Strategic Plan contains strategies to guide the development of sporting facilities in the region. Plans listed for the area include strategically locating sporting hubs, providing an increased capacity for clubs and eliminating the need for clubs to play home games in the ACT. This will provide opportunities for recreation for the whole community. The plan will soon be on public display for comment.
