It was the wettest show day in living memory. David Cargill, who believes he has attended over 70 shows in Braidwood could not remember a rainier day where the show had gone ahead.

A whopping 33.8 milimetres of rain fell over the course of Saturday, but despite this, the Show proceeded with only few minor alterations to the schedule. Horse High Jump events were cancelled, as the mud on the field posed a risk to riders and horses alike, and numbers were low for the other horse events.
Attendees were careful not to look a gift horse in the house, all emphasising that they were grateful for the rain around the district, breaking what has been a dry year so far for the region.
Numbers at the show soared as the rain dropped off just before midday, just in time for lunch. Kids and families enjoyed a sausage from the Central School barbecue, a climbing wall, dodgem cars and other rides.
The Pavilion was jam-packed with local produce and products. “The quantity’s pretty good and the quality’s excellent” said Chief Steward of Dairy Produce, Vegetables and Fruit Brian Carle, who thought Braidwood produce gave Canberra a run for its money.
Showgoers in the pavilion to a performance were treated to a performance from Braidwood Dance Studio, with the kids dancing to 24K Magic by Bruno Mars.
Winner of the Chainsaw Races was Sam Harrison, who edged in above Darren Waters in the final round.
Emily Lavis, Jack Hart, Breanna Hickey and Tareq Sorial all Year 12 students at Trinity Catholic College in Goulburn won the Senior category of the Young Farmers Challenge. Jessie Lavis, Harrison Wall, Darcy Lyons and Hannah Hayes won the Junior round of the event.
The big question of the day was what Harley, Charlie and Freckles, the big Brahmen Steers, weighed. The joint winners for guessing the closest to the combined weight of 1,700 kilograms were Dave Sargent, Dave Bolji and Marcus Fieldon.
