It was a speedy day at Gillamatong Lane as crowds gathered to watch the annual Billycart Derby run by the Braidwood Lions Club. Visitors came from as far as Queanbeyan, Goulburn and Port Kembla to watch riders hurtle down the hill.

Proceedings were opened by QPRC Administrator Tim Overall, as competitors unloaded their machines. Supporters settled on the sidelines to watch the carts go.
Under 8s began the competition, in a variety of handmade carts.
A police chase was the highlight of the afternoon. The crowd watched as a uniformed policeman rolled after Tom Clarke.
The top speed clocked down Gillamatong was an impressive 44 kilometres per hour.
