This year there are four teams competing for the grade 7 District flag – Braidwood, Tomakin, Bodalla and Tuross Heads.
The competition involves three teams of four bowlers from each club playing nine matches of three rinks of 21 ends. One point is given for each rink won and seven points for the highest total number of shots scored by the three teams.
Round One saw Braidwood defeated by Bodalla 10-0.
In round Two we had a hard-fought battle against Tomakin resulting in a 9-1 victory. Round Three had another close win over Tuross Head 9-1.
Hosting Bodalla at Braidwood gave our boys sweet revenge in round Four with a 9.5 – 0.5 win.
Tomakin then sneaked past us with a 9-1 win on their turf in the fifth round, but Braidwood had a huge victory over Tuross in the sixth round 10-1 and scoring 79 shots to 36.
Back to Bodalla last Saturday with Stan Wisbey filling in admirably for Rodney Grant, Braidwood victorious again 10-0.
The ladder, with two rounds to go, has Braidwood on top on 48.5, Tuross Head second, on 40.5 then Tomakin (28.5) and Bodalla (22.5). Our next match will be on April 7 at home against Tomakin and the last game against Tuross Head on their patch on April 14.
The efforts of all our members, family and friends in preparing the greens, umpiring, scoring and providing the catering for the home games is greatly appreciated.
Braidwood Bowling Club is an all-inclusive organisation and is now affiliated with The Royal NSW Bowls Association and Women’s Bowls NSW. The Club now also offers a ‘Social Bowls’ membership.
