Network protection equipment activated to isolate supply to affected areas after detecting faults on the high voltage electricity network due to the severe storm activity.
Crews worked throughout the night in challenging conditions to restore supply to customers, however due the extensive damage more than 3,200 customers in the area still remain without supply.
Additional crews from the region’s depots have been deployed to continue to assess the network and carry out necessary repairs.
In these extreme conditions such as Total Fire Ban days, Essential Energy is required to complete a full line patrol and deem it safe before manually restoring the power supply.
Essential Energy would like to thank customers for their patience while our crews work to get the power back on.
Essential Energy reminds the public to stay at least eight metres away from damaged or fallen powerlines and to immediately report fallen powerlines, network damage, fires or tress contacting powerlines to Essential Energy on 13 20 80 or call Triple-0 if the situation is life threatening.
