The report Recommends that Council : 1. authorise the General Manager to secure a loan of $100,000 over 15 years, and advertise for expressions of interest for the installation of an18kW solar array on the roof of the utility building at the Bungendore administration offices.
In 2011, Council received funding to commission a report into the feasibility of gas co?generation and/or solar power to generate electricity for the Bungendore Council office. The aim was to give effect to an earlier Council resolution at the time of the creation of the Climate Change s.355 Committee, i.e.
Council has previously resolved to Commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2020 based on 2005 emission levels; and to plan for and undertake measures to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change through the adoption of appropriate action plans, strategies and policies.
The report ‘Palerang Council Natural Gas Fired Cogeneration & Solar’ report in the Business Paper found that gas cogeneration is not cost?effective at this stage but recommended that solar panels be installed on the Bungendore office roof.
