It’s been more than 20 years since Braidwood Tennis club has had an all-day event against Bungendore Tennis Club, so both clubs got together and staged the event last weekend at Bungendore Tennis Park. Each team was playing to win the Palerang Cup.
This week saw another very successful Braidwood community Bank Bare Foot Bowls evening with fifty six bowlers of all ages take to the northern green with fourteen teams in delightful summer evening conditions. The twenty millimetres of rain over the last twenty four hours had made the greens a little heavy and some players had difficulty in getting the bowl to travel the distance.
The 2013 mixed foursome championships was a great success this year with nine couples battling out the event. Foursomes is a test of endurance, persistence and good humour. It inevitably raises questions of despair and, as Mark Twain noted, interesting arithmetic. The last thing competitors are thinking about after 27 holes is that scores are tied and some players have to venture out for three playoff holes.
