Speed is the clearly the issue on the approaches to Braidwood. Living on Solus street for some decades I have previously witnessed two or three vehicles a week failing to take the corner and ending up in our or nearby paddocks.

About 2 years ago the white lines on the corner were widened and the large red ‘reduce speed 45kph’ signs installed. Since then there have only been two or three cars failing to take the corner.
More recently the ripple strips along the road edges and the 50kmh zone extension may have also helped.
I can’t understand the defeatist attitude of the RTA saying that motorists don’t take any notice of speed limits. Let’s at least trial an 80kmh zone through the poplars rather than the drastic and expensive tree-change proposed.
