Time to Shine Braidwood

Braidwood, 2014 is our year to shine as we celebrate 175 years. It is time for everyone to join in and start promoting Braidwood’s Birthday year to your family, friends and colleagues. Share our new brochure of ‘Braidwood 175 ALIVE - 175 things to see and do in and around Braidwood’ and be proud of what we have here. Due to popular demand, more copies of the brochure will be printed soon.

We live in a very unique town with interesting and talented people, we have many buildings, landmarks and landscapes worthy of exploration and we have a rich history dripping in gold, something very few other towns in Australia can claim.

Braidwood’s actual date of gazetting was the 24th April, 1839, and I believe plans are well underway for birthday celebrations on Heritage Day on the 3rd May. It is also time to start planning for the Braidwood Community Bank Heritage Parade. Let’s make it the best street parade Wallace Street has ever had. Braidwood has had a long tradition of street parades so let’s not let down the earlier generations of our great district. A few suggestions for costumes and floats so far are the ‘usual suspects’: bushrangers, gold miners and convicts. Get out there on the day and have some fun with whatever period or theme you or your business decides on.

I hear that there are many other exciting events planned by various local organizations throughout the year in celebration of our birthday, so keep an eye out for details in the Braidwood Times, so you don’t miss them.

This is our year to shine – so turn up the volume on how good Braidwood is and join in the celebrations!
