The Heritage Week display was an outstanding success for the Men’s Shed. The old “paper shop” was full to bursting throughout the weekend. Over 700 people passed through the doors.

Interested locals and visitors took the opportunity to witness the many historic photographs that were on show. Apart from the photos there were wood cutting implements of all kinds reflecting the hard times of timber getting. Of great interest was the restored “Blitz” truck which took pride of place on the main street. Governor Bashir found the display most interesting and found time to stay for an extended look.
The Men’s Shed would like to thank Eric & Bev Lightfoot for the use of their shop. Also a big thank you to Mrs Shepherd who served tea and coffee all weekend. Our raffle went very well so we’d like to thank June Lang, Jenny Stanley, June Weatherstone and Ruby’s Bookshop for donating the prizes.
First prize went to Dave & Robin Goodwin, second to Marty Jeffery, third to Jill Burke and fourth to Les Duffy. Our usual Friday meeting will involve cleaning up and dismantling our display. Consideration is being given to storing the photos for future events of this nature. SEE GALLERY HERE
