I had the pleasure of visiting Braidwood last weekend to attend a close friends’ 70th birthday where I was fortunate to witness the wonderful spectacle of “bush dancing” in a woolshed - marvellous! And also took the opportunity of visiting the grand open gardens - fantastic.

I also took time to view the streets in your town and was extremely impressed by the street scapes and people’s gardens. The roses in particular were magnificent!
Unfortunately the same can’t be said about the main street .It looks tired and without a skerrick of greenery .It looks like a bitumen wasteland which must get very hot in summer. I noticed a new pedestrian crossing arrangement is under construction which will add a little greenery.
However, I suggest the main street needs a revamp to embrace some of the fine green aesthetics present in the side streets such as Duncan St for example.
I understand there is a need to balance the competing requirements of parking, traffic flow, heritage aspects etc. however, I believe with a bit of clever planning these elements can be accommodated and the Main Street could be greatly enhanced with some sympathetic paving, lighting and plantings etc
